The capital of Ukraine can now boast of its own tourism logotype. It was chosen through an open competition which was held last autumn. In the early stages the jury assessed 130 different works. The jury consisted of famous designers and lecturers of local higher education institutions.
In the end10 images were selected. It was followed by project improvement after which variants were transferred to the second round that had been held since February this year. The works were placed on a special website in the Internet where users could vote for any of them by online-voting and SMS sending. Finally, the winner was chosen.
Kiev tourism logotype has combined four symbols: “a drop” representing the Dnieper, “a chestnut”, reminding of the «greenery» in the Ukrainian capital and Kreschatik, “a dome” characterizing the history and spiritual culture of the city and “a heart” being a symbol of Kievans’ love and kindness. In future it is the symbol that will be on souvenir mugs, T-shirts, badges and other similar products.
