This Sunday, May 25, in France the 67th Cannes international film festival finished its work. For the main awards – «Golden Palm» and «A special look» – 38 movies competed. About forty more films were shown to guests within special programs.

As the best movie of the main competition the jury chose «Hibernation» of the Turkish director Nuri Bilge Dzheylan who is called today one of brightest propagandists of «slow movie». And his emphasized commitment to the «anti-mass» esthetics, according to many critics, reminds Antonioni and Tarkovsky’s works very much.

The Grand Prix the jury awarded to Alice Rorvacher’s «Miracles»; award for the best direction – to Bennett Miller for «The foxes hunter». Jury considered «Leviathan» scenario the best one by one more «modern Tarkovsky» – Andrey Zvyagintsev. The special prize was shared between two French directors from very different generations – Xavier Dolan and Jean-Luc Godard. In the competition second for its importance, «A special look», Hungarian Kornel Mundritso got an award for the movie «White God» about the girl who searched her gone dog.

The list of winners of the main Cannes competition gives almost exhaustive idea of what movies film fans should watch within the next year. Results of the Cannes film festival, however, aren’t limited with it. We chose 7 more sign events of the major film festival of the year.
