Andreevskii descent in Kiev is one of the ancient ways connecting the Top city, its central part, with a trade Podol.
On January 20, 2012 the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine issued the order according to which St. Andrew’s Descent receives the status of a monument of town planning of local value.
As indicated by the version Zakrevsky and some other regional specialists, the road which has become subsequently Andreevsky descent, was dug in a hilly crossing point between Vozdykhalnitsa mountain and Castle mountain at the time when on these mountains there existed the lock erected, probably, by Lithuanians. In keeping with the remained inventories of lands and notes of travelers, this descent first was very narrow, rough and inconvenient.
Now Andreevsky descent is the street-museum, one of the main tourist sights of the Ukrainian capital. Many well-known scientists and culturologists lived and worked: scientists, writers, composers, artists, sculptors.
